Coming from a small town, Bunkie, Louisiana where as a child every day after school she would have fun making ceramics. Over her elementary school years she achieved many awards for her ceramic designs. Carol was always told in school how good her art was but felt it should be a hobby and not a career. Therefore, when she attended college she chose Fine Art as a Minor. She worked for many years in retail, bookkeeping, and accounting. At the same time perusing her passion in many art forms as painting, woodworking, polymer clay, and jewelry design.

Later in life she went back to college and graduated with a degree in Graphic Design. Having this degree has enhanced her skills as an artist. Carol has her own business, Loethen Design, where she specializes in fashion photography, mixed media, and jewelry design.

Carol now lives in Pensacola Beach, Florida with her husband, David, who is also a photographer and artist. Her work has been published in magazines and has been exhibited in juried art shows.

.Carol Loethen is a award winning artist specializing in the use of vibrant color, in a loose free spirited style.
She began creating art at an early age as she came from a family of artist and designers. She graduated with a degree in Graphic Design. Carol’s art work speaks to the soul and the eyes.
Weather deplicting portraiture, animals, or nature, her art work is uplifting and joyful and reflects her passion.

My designs have sold in small boutiques and all over the world. Also my art has been published in several magazines. My own signature style is intuitive and an expression of me. I combine watercolor, acrylics, pastels and collage in my art. I hope you can see the love and passion that goes into each piece of art I design.

  3. Hi Carol! Long ago I lived in Catahoula Parish just downriver from Jonesville. We’ve both migrated away from that area, but I think I’ve trumped you in distance. I now live in Ecuador, just minutes south of the line of the equator.
You have a great blog, and I look forward to new posts.

    1. it is so good to know someone else on wordpress who comes from samm place close to my home town. Thanks so much for all your generous comments on my blog. You are definitely alot further from home than me. I love living in Florida. I feel like GOD has blessed me and I live in paradise. How is Ecuador? Do you love living there?
I am now following you..let’s keep in touch.. so great to meet you..

      1. yes, i love the area where i live, just close enough to the ocean to hear it, but far enough away that the constant sound of the waves doesn’t affect hearing other sounds of nature. ( it also helps keep electronics healthy!) life here in a farming community is like living in the southern usa forty years ago, only we can sit outside and visit and not be swarmed by mosquitoes! the mosquitoes are out in the first and last hours of the day, but still are not horrid! gasoline is $1.50 a gallon for regular, blue-plate lunch specials in town are $2.50, including first course of soup, basic meat/two vegs main course, and a fruit juice! the earth seems magic, plant a seed and watch it soar! punish it with neglect and it survives; water and tend to its needs, and you get amazing results! i love my life here! z

      2. sounds wonderful…I really like that blue plate special’s are only $2.50…never happen here..
So how did you land up in Ecuador?

      3. Ha! Long story, though when i was about 11, I dreamed of living in Argentina! I’ve not quite made it that far! My first trip to Ecuador was because of the amazing art/textiles/artisan work that I had seen in Costa Rica. I wanted to visit a country that had so many talented artists! Z

      4. would you believe my sister is living in Argentina right now…
